WAXEN is a quarterly, cooperative effort. Our contributors are fairly compensated and retain the rights to their work.

We specialize in experimental, weird, occult, and surreal literary horror and speculative fiction.

From the binding to the design on the dust jacket, volumes of Waxen are assembled exclusively by hand. Our physical releases blend literature and art, both in content and presentation, and celebrate a form we feel is waning in the digital age.

It is a zine, a literary magazine, an art book, and a ritual.

Our publication exists in print form.

We make one hundred copies of each volume.

Each individual first edition copy is hand-numbered and unique. Some belong to the authors, poets, and artists featured within. Others can be found hidden in forests, libraries, thrift shops, and elsewhere.

Fifteen of each volume are set aside for our online strorefront.

We invite the curious to explore their contents. PDFs of our volumes are available to read for free on the best website on the internet.
